We love our LGBTQ freelancer friends! Check out my favorite gifts for freelancers. The best gift for an entrepreneur or small business owner can be doing something to support or market their business. I have a whole list of great physical presents below, but also consider supporting your favorite entrepreneur by:
- Finding and following all of their social media accounts
- Sharing a link and a recommendation for one of their products or services
- Purchasing their product or service for yourself or for a friend
- Leaving a positive and honest review on their Yelp page, Amazon product page, or Etsy store
This post is all about great presents for our favorite LGBTQ entrepreneurs, freelancers, and small business owners!

Gifts for Freelancers
These are the best, easy to use fully erasable gel pens! Whether I’m brainstorming, doodling, or taking notes during a call, I appreciate how smooth and clear these pens are. Erasable pens are a great, inexpensive, useful present for freelancers.
Notebooks are so useful as an entrepreneur. I use mine for taking notes during calls, brainstorming new business ideas, and designing web pages. I like dotted paper more than lined paper as it still has guides for drawing or writing in a straight line but the dots feel less limiting. These durable, quality notebooks make a nice solid gift for a friend whose business involves note-taking, writing, or drawing specs.
A lap desk is the tool I didn’t know I needed until I got one. I love sitting on the couch or bed to work at my laptop. (Anything but at the desk, amirite?) This bamboo lap desk holds the laptop up at a nice stable angle for video calls and writing. The side panel is great for using a notebook or holding a cup of tea (carefully). This lap desk may be the perfect present for your favorite freelancer.
This great book by Beth Pickens, Make Your Art No Matter What, is targeted towards artists and creatives, but shares relevant advice for anyone working solo on something they believe in. From asking for help to dealing with grief, trauma, and money issues, this is a book about business addressing the actual reasons artists struggle. This book is a thoughtful present and would be ideal for someone starting a business or new venture.
One of the best parts of working from home is being cosy, right? What better way to be cosy than to cuddle up with your laptop under a warm, fleecy lap blanket. This comfortable blanket would make a great present for remote workers in colder climates!
Working from home can be noisy, between neighbors, kids, pets, partners, roommates… The home office may not be the sanctuary you imagine. Noise cancelling headphones are a must-have for many freelancers. I appreciate these over-ear bluetooth headphones. The sound quality is good for an affordable price. These noise cancelling headphones would make a nice and generous gift for a friend or family member.
You know when you start off the morning with two or three beverages and they are all room temp by the time you drink them? This insulated mug is the solution. With the lid on, it will keep your tea or coffee hot for a couple of hours. I use my mug every day and love it. I don’t have to worry about forgetting I made a cup of tea because it will still be warm when I get around to it. This mug comes in many different colors and would make a great present for any entrepreneur who likes working while enjoying a hot beverage.
Fingerless gloves keep my hands and arms warm in the colder months (indoors and outdoors). I love the rainbow color because it’s an easy way to imply I’m a proud member of the LGBTQ community. Rainbow fingerless gloves would make a great gift for an LGBTQ entrepreneur.
The Instant Pot is a great appliance for busy people who cook at home. I love making soups, flavorful sauces, curries, and lentils in mine. It’s so helpful to add ingredients and start the cooking process without having to stand at the stove. A busy entrepreneur will likely appreciate receiving a useful Instant Pot from you as a gift.
Freelancers are often found in their natural habitat: among several half-finished cups of tea or coffee. This electric kettle is perfect for making tea because it heats the water to specific not-quite boiling temperatures that will make the tea taste good without burning it. The glass carafe looks neat as you’re boiling the water. Pair this electric kettle with a favorite box of tea for the perfect gift!
This rechargeable fan is perfect for a home office (you can plug it in with the USB cord and clip it onto a desk). It’s also ideal for staying cool working outdoors at a vendor cart or farmer’s market. This fan would make an interesting and thoughtful gift for your favorite entrepreneur.
Canva is SO useful for creating graphics for small businesses. Whether you need a printable brochure or an Instagram story, Canva has a template for that. Canva’s free service offers a ton of value, but they also offer much more paid content including templates, art, and editing tools. A Canva Pro subscription would provide a ton of value as a gift to a small business owner or freelancer.
I hope you’ve found inspiration for an excellent present for the LGBTQ freelancer in your life. Gifts for freelancers are meaningful because they show support for the small business owners in our community. If you haven’t found the right gift yet, no worries — everyone likes cash!
